三峯神社は、日本武尊（ヤマトタケルノミコト）が東征の折にこの地の山川の美しさに感銘を受け、国生みの神である伊弉諾尊・伊弉册尊をお祀りしたのが始まりとされています。標高1,100mの秩父の山深くに鎮座し、周囲を深い森と霧に包まれたその佇まいから「関東最強のパワースポット」として知られます。
Mitsumine Jinja was founded by the legendary hero Yamato Takeru, who was so moved by the beauty of the mountains and rivers in this region that he enshrined Izanagi no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto — the deities of creation. Perched at 1,100 metres in the deep mountains of Chichibu, enveloped in ancient forest and mist, it is known as one of the most spiritually powerful places in the Kanto region.
三峰の名は、雲取山・白岩山・妙法ヶ岳の
三つの峰を望むことに由来します。
The name "Mitsumine" — Three Peaks —
comes from the view of Mt. Kumotori, Mt. Shiraiiwa, and Mt. Myōhō.
入口には全国的にも珍しい「三ツ鳥居」が立ち、一般的な狛犬ではなくニホンオオカミの像が守護しています。これは三峯神社の御眷属（お使い）がオオカミであることに由来し、「お犬さま」として古くから信仰されてきました。日本武尊の道案内をしたという伝承が残り、神社の至るところにオオカミの姿を見ることができます。
At the entrance stands the rare "Mitsu-Torii" — a triple torii gate found at very few shrines in Japan. Instead of the usual komainu lion-dogs, the gate is guarded by statues of Japanese wolves (ōkami). The wolf is the divine messenger of Mitsumine, said to have guided Yamato Takeru on his journey. Throughout the shrine grounds, the wolf's presence is felt everywhere — a guardian revered for centuries.
